Manslaughter
Drabet

Saturday, January 27, 8 p.m., Rich Theatre

The complexity, subtlety, and depth of director Per Fly's provocative drama Manslaughter has made it an international film festival hit, as well as the number two film at the Danish box office in 2005. A beautifully written character study that also examines timely social and moral issues, Manslaughter is the story of Carsten (Jesper Christensen), a middle-aged college professor who has strayed from his seemingly happy marriage and fallen hard for Pil (Beate Bille), a former student. Young and beautiful, Pil is also a committed radical leftist, and Carsten, a Communist in his youth, is drawn to her like a moth to aflame. But when Pil is involved in a raid on an arms factory that goes terribly wrong, Carsten finds his well-ordered world suddenly ablaze. - 103 minutes – Drama - 2005
